What Is Matter?
Matter is a universal language that allows smart home devices to talk to each other even if they're manufactured by different companies. You’ll be able to connect your Kwikset lock to other smart home devices and control them automatically through any compatible smart home platform.
Why does it matter?
When your devices talk to each other it's simpler to control and automate them simultaneously whether you use Siri and Apple Home, Amazon Alexa, Google Home, or any other matter compatible platform. All your devices can work together through one app. This way, anyone in the house can use their favorite smart home assistant.
How to connect?
Every matter enabled device comes with a setup QR code. Just open your compatible smart home app on your phone, scan the code and add the device. It's that simple.
Do I need Wi-Fi?
No. Matter uses a technology called Thread and is more reliable because devices can directly connect to each other. Even if your internet goes down, you'll still have control inside the house and your automations will still run.
What is compatible?
The biggest Smart Home brands have already adopted Matter, and even more are on the way. Matter ensures compatibility and is making it simpler than ever for all the devices in your home to work together.
