Kevo users can now build applets triggered by locking and unlocking their smart locks
LAS VEGAS (January 5, 2017) – Kwikset®, a leading manufacturer of smart locks made for the world you live in, launched an IFTTT channel for its popular Kevo™ platform, which includes first and second-generation Bluetooth-enabled Touch-to-Open smart locks. The channel allows Kevo users interested in building a connected home the ability to integrate their smart locks with more smart home products than ever before using simple connections called Applets.
Touch-to-Open Smart Locks
Kevo is a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock that uses Bluetooth Low Energy 4.0 technology to turn your smartphone into an electronic key (eKey). Kevo locks and unlocks quickly with the touch of a finger while your smartphone remains in your purse or pocket, eliminating the need to fumble for keys.
n 2013, Kwikset became the first manufacturer to introduce a Bluetooth-enabled smart lock with the launch of Kevo. Since then, Kwikset has grown the Kevo platform to include a second-generation Kevo smart lock, a smart lock conversion kit (Kevo Convert) and a remote service solution (Kevo Plus). All Kevo products are backed with Kwikset’s promise to deliver convenience and secure smart lock solutions for every home.
If This, Then That (IFTTT)
IFTTT is free web-based service that allows users to create Applets, or event-based programming triggers, to automate a number of actions or tasks between different web applications, apps and physical devices that its users own. According to the IFTTT website, the IFTTT community has grown to include more than 100,000 developers and millions of users and partners since its launch in 2010, reinforcing the growing demand from smart home enthusiasts for interoperability between their devices.
Kevo Applets on IFTTT
With the launch of the Kevo channel on IFTTT, users can automate their Kevo smart locks to trigger actions with other devices in the home. The channel features more than 10 Applets ranging from video monitoring upon locking Kevo and turning on lights when Kevo is unlocked. For a full list of Applets, visit IFTTT.com/Kevo.
